London attacked 07-07-05

This morning, July 7th 2005 London, England was attacked by terrorists who bombed six transit systems and one bus, killing 37 people and injuring more than 700.

True September 11th was worse in the way of impact and deaths. But this is not about who's attack was worse it is about terrorism. Are we doing enough? Apparently terrorists had threatened to attack transit systems before and several attempts had been thwarted too.

This is (I believe) an attempt by Al Queda to get England to pull out of Iraq and stop supporting us. It is what happened after Madrid was bombed. But England unlike Spain is strong in their alliance with America and I do not think they will back down. Tony Blair is an excellent prime minister and a strong man. He will get his country through this and they I thing will come out even stronger than before.

The real irony is when it occurred. Just yesterday the people of London were celebrating winning the chance to host the Olympics in 2012. Just 12 hours after a day of celebrating they where met with a day of tragedy.

On a side note: I was watching MSNBC (yes I watch them) and as they usually do before a commercial, they zoomed into a clock. The clock said:
9:11
London

We are still fighting terrorism and now we need to fight harder. But as president Bush said in October of 2001 "We will not waver. We will not tire. We will not faulter. We will not fail. Peace and freedom will prevail."
